Injection

In the injection molding process the heated molten plastic is forced by pressure into a mold cavity. The mold cavity is the negative of the part being produced. Once the cavity is filled with plastic, and subsequently cooled down, the plastic becomes a solid material (the completed positive component). Due to high pressures involved, molds have to be clamped shut during injection and cooling by clamping forces measured in tons.
