Gas assist molding
During the plastic injection molding process, as soon as the solidification starts, pressurized nitrogen gas is injected into the cavity of the mold spreading thermoplastic into the mold extremities whilst reducing the thicker areas of the piece. One of the advantages of gas assist molding is material saving. In fact, pressurized gas displaces material in the thicker walls creating hollow sections without compromising strength and functional performance of the part. As a result of using less plastic material, the cooling is faster, the cycle time is shorter and molded parts are lighter. In addition to this, sink marks and surface blemishes are dramatically cut, enhancing aesthetic appearance of the part.
